By Train through the Rockies

Train through mountains snakes
As small inclines it takes.
Every turn on the tracks displays
Layers of views that relay
Magnificent peaks and lakes.

Tunnels we exit and enter,
Eclipsing the journey the better.
Brief breaks of darkness
Contrast with the brightness
Of snows on mountains that glitter.

We encounter uplifts, geologic,
Created by plates tectonic.
On the Continental Divide
Train is making good stride,
Quick photos! To capture these gifts.

Cameras clicking away
Catching the sun´s warm ray.
Cameras cannot compete
With what the eye sees, replete
With splendor that is hard to convey.

Would that the soul could retain
The calm that is here to be gained
From these breathtaking views,
Perhaps there are clues
For inspiration to be retained.

בֵּין הָרִים וּבֵין סְלָעיִם טָסָה הַרַכֶּבֶת

סְבִיב הָרִים מִתְפַּתֶּלֶת רַכֶּבֶת.
עוֹלָה אַט וָמַעְלָה, זוֹחֶלֶת --
כָּל פְּנִיָּה בַּמְסִלָּה מְגַלָּה
מַרְאוֹת מַפְעִימֵי-נְשָׁמָה
כָּל פִּסְגָּה אֶת הַלֵּב מְרַגֶּשֶׁת.

אֶל תּוֹךְ מִנְהָרוֹת נֶעֱלַמְנוּ,
מֶרְחַקִּים גְּדוֹלִים חָסְכוּ לָנוּ.
הֲפוּגוֹת חֲשׁוּכוֹת,
מוּל אוֹר-יְקָרוֹת
נִצְנוּצוֹ שֶׁל הַשֶּׁלֶג עִמָּנוּ.

לְעִתִּים נִתְקָלִים בְּצּוּקִים
הַצּוֹמְחִים מַעְלָה, לְצִדֵּי הֶהָרִים.
בֶּעָבָר הֶרָחוֹק הֵם נוֹצְרוּ
שַׁי יָפֶה לָנוּ נִתְּנוּ --
לְצַלֵּם בִּמְהֵרָה! מַחֲזוֹת מַרְהִיבִים.

מַצְלֵמוֹת פּוֹעֲלוֹת בִּרְצִיפוּת,
קַרְנֵי-אוֹר מְאִירוֹת, חֲמִימוֹת,
אַךְ לֹא תְּשַׁקֵּף אַף תְּמוּנָה
אֶת מָה שֶׁהָעַיִן חוֹוָה,
אֶת הָדָר וּפְאֵר הַמַּרְאוֹת.

מִי יִתֵּן וְהַנֶּפֶשׁ תֶּאֱגֹר
שַׁלְוָה לֶעָתִיד כָּאן תִּצְבֹּר.
מִמַּרְאוֹת פֶּלֶא וְהוֹד
אוּלַי נָפִיק עוֹד
הַשְׁרָאָה שֶׁנַּצְלִיחַ לִזְכֹּר.
